This June, Heidi Vanderbilt-Brown joined Milton as the School’s Chief Financial and Operating Officer. Heidi previously worked in Harvard University’s Office of Financial Strategy and Planning, where she had been associate director since 2011. In that role, Heidi was responsible for the design and execution of all annual university financial planning initiatives, including multi-year financial planning, annual budgeting, tuition, enrollment and financial aid proposals, capital planning affordability assessments, and quarterly forecasting and projections. Heidi worked successfully with teams across the university to advise schools on financial matters, including new operating initiatives and large capital projects. She routinely presented analyses and recommendations to the university’s board of directors and other senior executives, and subsequently worked with them to implement initiatives.
Prior to her work at Harvard, Heidi worked as a principal in the health care practice of the Boston Consulting Group. While earning her M.B.A. at Harvard Business School, Heidi interned at Boston Scientific, and prior to her graduate school years she was a consultant at The Advisory Board Company — a research, technology, and consulting firm for health care and higher education organizations. Heidi graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College with a concentration in biology.
Heidi has defined herself as a results-oriented manager with strategic and operations experience and success with institutional innovation. She has relied upon her strong communication and people management skills at every level. Heidi is excited to bring her experience from the Harvard context to Milton, particularly in the financial management, endowment and campaign areas. She is especially eager to be involved directly in operational responsibilities at Milton, including project management. Heidi’s experience, intellect and energy will be a great asset to Milton as we continue to develop our institutional financial strength through our capital campaign.
